Hello, and welcome to our public portal via the internet. I am James Lee Okanagon, and it is my great honor to serve you

as the President of the Houkeai Nation. I am a member of the Naltunnetunne people of western Oregon. My wife, Melissa Chee is from the Diné and we have been married nearly 40-years. She is active in many tribal gatherings and judging by the phone calls we receive at night, quite well known. She does not always appreciate my humor, but together, we seem to be an able team. During this season of our service to you it is my great hope and wish that I can be of benefit and a fit servant to a nation of people whose historical roots go as deep as any known to human kind. Presently, we are working toward better documenting the origins of the Houkeai (roughly translated as "the remnant"). During the year of 2025 I expect to see growth of our culture as we become less insulated from the European settlers in our lands and more proactive in asserting alloidal rights to our homeland. I hope that we will make this journey together. I will travel extensively this year both in the northern lands and down to our southern people, principally in the district of Peru. During these travels I hope to meet as many of the people as I can and hear your stories and learn of your hopes and visions for the people we call Houkeai. Let us all pray that the Great Spirit watch over us all as we make our journeys in life together.
